You snuck out of the castle, tired after days of work. You
had nothing but a tattered dress and a cloth wrapped around your head to keep
you warm. It wasn't enough as you shivered in the fall air. It was a wonderful
sight though, the nature during fall. The trees still had plenty of leaves that
burned with fire, and swayed in the wind. The ground was plenty green and had
carpets and blankets of leaves. You were walk when a startling breeze flew
towards you, tearing off your cloth and having your (h/c) hair dance behind
you. You look at the direction of the wind and see a red and orange leaves
close toghter, forming a path. You look at it curiously and walk on it and
wondering where it would take you. Strange
hissing noises started leaking into your ear as you went closing. Soon it
started turning into melodic voices.
"There every herd, by sad experience, knows
How, winged with fate, their elf-shot arrows fly,
When the sick ewe her summer food forgoes,
Or, stretched on earth, the heart-smit heifers lie."
You stopped, your heart beating. It had to Elves and
Faeries! You then sped up, wanting to see what they were doing. You peeked
behind a wide tree, intently looking at the little creatures. You (e/c) eyes
were temporily blinded for the incredible light coming from where they were.
Oh the view!
The faeries and elves were dancing in a circle, singing and
laughing. Others were sitting at mushroom tables eating berries and little
cakes. Oddly none of them stepped into the middle of the circle; even the fireflies
swerved clear of it. You took this all in, amazed at everything. Suddenly
everyone started shushing each other, looking in your direction in awe. You
looked behind you but no one was there. A little faery flew up to you and
bowed. She tugged at your hand, very hard. You expected to trip but you just
seemed to float forward. Float?! You looked at yourself and felt your head.
Your hair was (wavy/straight/curly) and was (pinned up/ hanging down) with a
wreath of (gold/silver) leaves. Your dress was now made of (f/c) (flower) and it was up to your knees
and swaying gently. The biggest surprise was that you had huge (f/c) butterfly
wings floating behind you. You fluttered them slowly, letting the little faery
lead you. She stopped at the border of the middle of the ring but pushed you forward.
The elves and faeries watched and waited for something.
"May I have this dance?"
You had heard that voice before.
You heard it every day.
Turning around you saw Prince Arthur standing also in the
middle of the circle. He held out his hands, the emeralds on his face gleaming
kindly. You took them gently, and started to dance with him. Time seem to stop
right there. You were not a slave, you were not bound. You were free. Eerie
music rang out and singing followed the beat of your slow dance. Eventually you
laid your head onto his shoulder, as the sun began to rise.
You felt a sharp pain right where your heart was as the sun
went up. Prince Arthur looked up also and let go of you. Your wings and
everything disappeared into thin air, leaving you as a slave again. Even after
that Arthur smiled at you and took your hand. You both walked up to the castle,
where you knew you would be freed from you chains.
It happened like that every night for a while now.
Everything would happen exactly the same, yet every time was different. The
days still went by. You were still a slave when you were in the castle.
You were elbow up in soapy water, cleaning the dishes from
lunch. Other slaves and maids worked by you, chattering.
"He’s going to announce today"
"Said it was going to be such a surprise"
"It has to be Princess Lily"
"What’s going on?" you asked, surprised by everyone’s
excited whispers.
"Oh didn't you know ___? Prince Arthur said he was
going to announce his bride today at dinner! Even we maids and slaves are going
to see it!" one fellow slave sighed.
"Wouldn't it be dreamy if he chose a maid, like
me!" another exclaimed.
Tears ran down your face as you thought of him. After he got
married, he wouldn't be able to dance with you. Alone together in the nights, surround
by magic. Anyone would have killed for one minute in your nighttime adventures.
~Time skip~
You were wearing your regular clothes and stood off to the
side as everyone important ate. A clinging stopped everyone’s hushed
conversations. Prince Arthur stood up so everyone could see him. Everyone was
waiting for his announcement. Turning over and facing your direction he uttered
to words.
"I wish to marry ___"
